About Suki Magazine

SUKi is the official newsletter by the Japan Foundation, Manila, which is dedicated to carrying out Japan’s comprehensive international cultural exchange programs across the Philippines.

The word “suki” means “like” in Nihongo, and “regular customer” in Filipino, both of which are ideas of friendship, trust, and mutual understanding. The different contributors to SUKi speak of different ways of fostering closeness across arts and culture’s vibrantly diverse facets: cultural and intellectual exchange, film, literature, visual arts, performing arts, and more.

This is SUKi, the story of the ties between Japan and the Philippines. The opinions expressed in the articles are of the authors and not necessarily of the organization.

Reproduction in whole or in part of SUKi articles is prohibited without permission from the author and JFM
