Curating in Local Contexts: A Virtual Workshop
Art in Lockdown: Contemporary art and exhibition making during a crisis
July 2, 4, and 6
Co-organized by Curating in Contexts Workshop Series and Load na Dito Projects

The Curating in Local Contexts workshop was held online, composed of 3 virtual sessions with a presentation by invited speakers Makiko Hara (independent curator based in Tokyo and Vancouver) and Tessa Maria Guazon (curator, professor at the art studies department, University of the Philippines Dilliman) and a keynote lecture by Gridthiya Gaweewong (curator, artistic director at Jim Thompson Art Center). 15 practitioners from the Philippines and abroad were selected to participate. The event explored the various materialities of contemporary art exhibitions, considered new modalities of exhibition and program making during crises, specifically the current pandemic, and aimed to contribute to a thriving ecology for contemporary art in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region.
