Fifth Wall Fest

FIFTH WALL FEST is the Philippines’ first international dance film festival which focuses on challenging artistic experimentation between dance and film while exploring the possibilities and boundaries (or lack thereof) in the genre. The platform aims to develop and strengthen the use of the genre, as well as bridge the gap between local and international dance communities.
A total of fifty seven (57) films from all over the world were screened, free of charge. There was also a Competition section where the top two films were awarded and recognized for their excellence and innovation in the craft of dance filmmaking. The selection was made by the jury members of the Fifth Wall Fest Competition 2020 who are experts in the first of dance including National Artist of the Philippines Ms. Alice Reyes, and Mr. Naoto Iina, founder of the International Dance Film Festival in Japan.
Aside from film screenings, the project had a series of sidebar events held in the Black Box – a digital venue for staging events, talks, and workshops transcending the four walls of the performance space. The Black Box was established to foster connections and exchange with individuals engaged in celebration of dance on camera.
