Shusoku-Convergence is an online art project with two components, which are a website (www.shusoku-convergence.com) and online workshops that bring together Japanese and Filipino artists with the audiences/participants in the Philippines and Japan. The project aims to connect the people from both countries through art during the new normal.
The website www.shusoku-convergence.com was launched on December 30, 2020, and then two workshops were conducted with Japanese artists Oruha and Ayaka Yasukouchi on two separate dates via Zoom.
On January 11, Mandala Artist Oruha (Yuko Murakami) taught the participants to make a mandala on Black Paper, using colored gel pens. The session ran for almost two hours.
On January 29, Ayaka Yasukouchi conducted a workshop on collage. Many children participated in this workshop and enjoyed the process of making a collage from paper works and collaborative storytelling weaving the works into one story.
